Barrett Marsden Gallery exhibits innovative work from nationally and internationally renowned artists whose conceptual interests are linked to concerns for skill, process and material. Much of this work transcends the formally defined boundaries of fine art, applied art and design and resists classification in any single category. A broad spectrum of media are involved: ceramics, glass, wood, cloth and metal. The artists represented by the gallery are:

Six solo or two person exhibitions a year are staged in the main gallery. Exhibitions are curated to provide an appropriate context in which artists can show new developments and allow one work to supply background for another. An annual group exhibition provides an opportunity to view current works from all the gallery's artists. Over the past nine years, many of Barrett Marsden's artists have had successful solo shows at the gallery. The forthcoming exhibitions calendar includes solo exhibitions of new work by Sara Radstone, Nicholas Rena, Martin Smith and Gordon Baldwin..

A changing display of work from gallery artists and other artists can be found on the lower gallery floor. While the main emphasis is on contemporary work, important examples of earlier pieces by gallery artists and other key figures such as Ewen Henderson are also available from time to time.
